Chronic pain is defined as pain that persists for greater than 3 months.  It may fluctuate and can occur in all parts of your body. It can include aching, burning, shooting, stinging, and/or throbbing sensations.

Of course, pain is an important sensation to your body.  It informs you when something is wrong like an alarm.  It is helpful for when you put your hand on the stove and need to remove it quickly, and not as helpful when the alarm goes on for weeks, months or even years! 

As you know, chronic pain can take a toll on your physical and mental health and can impact all  realms in your life.   With up to 67% of patients with chronic pain also meeting criteria for a psychiatric disorder (Annagur et al, 2014).

  • Arthritis

  • Back pain

  • Cancer related pain

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Headahces

  • Neuropathic pain

Recent studies suggest that approximately 20% of US adults experience chronic pain (Rickard et al., 2023).

I have over a decade of experience working with individuals with pain from a psychosocial perspective. I am certified in Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Empowered Relief. I have extensive post-doctoral training in cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy for pain. Most recently, I played an integral role in the development of a multidisciplinary cancer pain clinic. I have been an invited speaker and have published in this domain. I am able to complete pre-surgical evaluations for pain neuromodulation procedures including spinal cord stimulators.
